With the winter sand racing season also curtailed because of the virus Jack was happy to find he had won the adult 250 championship and was second in the 450 class in his first year of moving up to the adult classes.

He commented: “I would like to thank mum and dad and my brother Ben for all their help last season.

“Racing the 250 and 450 classes all season was very challenging and I couldn’t have done it without their help and preparation.

“Happy to say I won the adult 250 class, second overall in the 450 class and third overall in the open class on 261 points.”

The year 2020 was going to be a big year for the apprentice brick layer as he has joined the Pete Boast Champion Flat Track team to contest the Flat Track National series this year riding a 2018 CRF 450 Honda.

But with the pandemic the series had to be postponed and will now take place in 2021.

Despite the lockdown he has been able to train at the Flat Track school near Caenby Corner.

And with some of the British Superbike riders also training there the pace was fast.

Jack explained: “Riding with some of the fastest riders in the county kept me sharp and I was able to up my speed and also learn from them.”

Jack is also riding an 800cc Ducati Scrambler in the Hooligan class but again the series has been deferred to take place next year.

However, he has been out on a couple of test days at Greenfields near Alford where he had two good, productive sessions.

He said: “The bike has been provided by London based company DMOL and I really enjoyed the test days. I felt very comfy on the bike and am looking forward to being able to ride it again shortly.”
