He finished with two top-four results under his belt.

The 22-year-old, who is racing in the Pirelli 600 Cup on a Kawasaki ZX-6R, made an impact from the off by qualifying second at the two-day event in Cheshire.

Race one saw a guaranteed podium slip through his fingers on the last lap, but a fourth-place finish amongst a grid of 40 riders still brought a smile to the agricultural contractor’s face.

Race two was even more exciting when Broderick took the lead and set the fastest lap of the meeting in the process, before slipping off his bike on the last lap.

Bruised but buoyant, the third and final race saw Broderick once more take the lead from lap five of the 10-lap encounter, before being relegated back to second at the last corner on the last lap.

“I’ve had a great weekend,” said Broderick.

“I know I’ve got the speed to win and my sights are already firmly set on securing the championship.

“Crashing out of the lead was unfortunate, but I’ve learned from it and I won’t be making that same mistake again.

“I can’t wait to get out there again.”

Broderick’s next race is at Snetterton circuit in Norfolk on April 15-17.
