Peter had win against Gordon Neal (who also was at his highest position of the season). Pete started well and by half way lead 11-6 and at 15 ends it was 19-6 to Peter, Gordon was restricted to scoring on just six ends and finished up losing 31-10 to keep Pete in with a chance.

He was relying on Gordon to beat Michael, however at 10 ends Michael lead 9-5 at 15 had stretched it to 13-7, Michael winning 19-12, securing promotion.

The top group started with Dave Toynton (the only ever present in the top group) playing Janet Loughran on her third visit to the top.

Dave took an early 10-0 lead and never looked back. When they got to 15 ends he lead 20 -9 and Janet dropped out of contention with a 26-13 loss.

Janet’s next opponent was Helen Holroyd (the only two ladies in the competition and both in the top group).

Janet had to win but soon found Helen too strong. The result was 28-8.

The final match was a free match for both Dave and Helen, Dave winning 25-12.

Michael Gooderson, Helen Holroyd and Dave Toynton are the three players who could now win the title.

Purple group saw John Thorogood take two wins to go back into Blue group and Bill Yuill dropping to Orange group.

Ray Loughran scored two wins to bounce back into Purple next week and send John Mitchell down to Red Group.

Harry Maddison recorded two wins in Red Group to climb into Orange which left Graham Taylor relegated.

Graham’s first season on grass has been good, initially moving up the league but finishing lower than he would have liked.
