Mob mentality pays off on return to Skegness Darts League

Web Signs Division One pacesetters Rowdy Mob got the better of Ex Service Sports at home in the Skegness Darts League.

They got off to a flying start as they lead 4-1 after the opening singles with Lee Yates hitting 2x100, 140, Shaun Drury 100, 140, Mark Forman 4x100, 105, 2x140, 141 and Shane Lowe 6x100, 3x140 and a 17-dart leg.

When they won the doubles and trebles they were guaranteed the draw as they held a 6-1 lead.

Gary Garton hit 9x100, and Brad Martin 100, 135, 140 and a 19-darter to give the Sports hope as they won the opening two singles.

Brad had earlier hit 4x100, 120, 4x140, and a 126 finish.

But Martin Bell (6x100, 110 finish) got the better of Mark Gray (5x100, 112, 137, 180 and 145 finish) in the game of the night to give the Mob an unassailable 7-2 lead.

Martin previously hit 5x100, 2x135, and a 96 finish.

Mark Forman and Shane Lowe made no mistake as they won their singles as the Mob ran out 9-3 winners.

Sports also had Darren Taylor (100, 132, 140) and Pete Evans (3x100, 121, 2x140) on the sheet.

Matadors were taking on reigning champions Seaview Next Tuesday at the Highwayman and, in a cracker of a game with no less than 65 high scores, Matadors won 7-5.

The hosts took the two opening singles with Joby Booth (2x100, 104, 120, 136 and a 16 dart leg) and Wayne Clarke (125, 135, 2x140 and a 16 dart leg) but Kev Barker (2x100, 116, 140), Nathan Careless (5x100, 125, 140, 2x180, 136 finish and a fantastic 12 dart leg) and George Stocks (3x100, 121, 3x140) won the next three to give the Seaview the slenderest of leads.

Dartvaders won both the doubles and trebles again to edge things 4-2 and when Joby and Wayne won their singles they led 6-3.

Back came the Seaview as they won the next two through Nathan and Sam Hewson (2x100), but when Braydon Wyeth (3x100, 140) beat Sean Kirby (3x100) it was all over.

Phil Johnson-Hale (2x100, 2x125, 134, 2x140) and Scott Smith (2x100, 125) also threw well.

The final game in this division saw Ex Service 501s beat Liberal Lads 10-2.

High scorers for the 501s were Carl Abbiss (2x100, 125, 134, 140, 110 finish and a 17 dart leg), Gordon Smith (3x100, 2x121, 140 2x180 and a 19 darter), Scott Sutton (10x100, 121) and Chris Fletcher (5x100, 121) while the Lads’ main scorers were Gordon Mcquillan (2x100), Colin Pringle (3x100, 134, 140), Rob Pomeroy (11x100, 125), Mark Carter (6x100, 101, 180), Rick Seaman (100, 140) and Terry Cox (2x100, 122, 131, 140).

In the Piper Window Systems Ltd Division Two, Ex Service Cobras claimed their first win of the season at Gunslingers.

Cobras led 3-2 after the singles despite to some cracking performances for the Gunslingers, with Darren Butler (2x100, 120) and Sean Butler (2x100, 3x140, 100 finish and a fantastic 17 dart leg).

The Cobras took both the doubles and trebles to extend their lead to 5-2, taking the first single through Roy Parnham (2x121, 133).

Youngster Kyle Davis (5x100, 121, 133) beat Stuart Corsen (5x100) to pull one back for the Gunslingers but Darrell Webb (4x100, 140, 180) beat Mark Williams (5x100, 117) and it was game over as the Cobras led 7-3, the contest ending up 8-4 in their favour.

Leaders New Park Poachers won 9-3 at Ex Service Spitfires.

Poachers’ Wayne Burles (3x100, 137), Glyn Pope (6x100, 121, 135, 2x140), James Richards (100, 140), Rui Mason (100, 125, 133, 140), Scott Millar (2x100) and Jonathan Thorndike (122, 125) threw well, as did Spitfires’ Martin Boss (4x100, 137), Ian Dunn (100, 2x140), Dave Middleton (6x100) and Lee Woods (3x100, 2x121, 125, 140).

Cricket Club travel to Burgh to take on Red Arrows, forcing a draw.

The away side had the edge 4-3 after the first set of singles, doubles and trebles.

Stuart Hodson (5x100, 105), T. Bowlby (3x100) and Richard Jackson (2x100, 125, 140) won for the Red Arrows as they moved into the lead 6-4.

Mikey Forman (3x100) and Paul Lucas (4x100, 121, 140) responded to earn a draw.

Steven Bourke (121, 140), Alistair Ainsworth (118, 121) and Luke Rawlins (3x100, 121) did well for Cricket Club with Red Arrows’ Nick Casswell (4x100, 2x140) and Paul Tuplin (3x100, 140) also in form.

In the New Park Club Skegness Division Three, top met second as Seaview Raiders took on Welcome Hillbillies.

These two teams were locked together level on points but Raiders stormed into a 5-0 lead after the first set of singles, Seaview ending up 10-2 winners helped by Sean Bates (2x100, 105), Maria Titre (3x100, 110 finish), Steven Emsen (100, 121) and Peter East (3x100, 121, 132).

Hillbillies’ response came from John Upton (3x100).

The in-house derby at the Liberal Club saw as Amigos take on Liberal Us.

The Liberals bossed the game from the start, racking up an 11-1 win, Gareth Jowett (5x100, 140) on target for the Amigos while Steve Gillings (100, 121, 123), Stewart Giles (100, 140),

Chris Troth (100, 140) and player of the match Hayley Reeson (3x100, 140, 180) responding for the Liberal Us.

Vine Allstars and Liberal Livewires met at the Vine and it was another resounding win, this time for the Livewires, who were comfortable 10-2 winners.

They moved second thanks to Carl Guest Jr (100, 105, 121, 135), Tom Thornton (4x100, 105), Ken Wilson (3x 100, 121, 135, 116 finish) and Ian Bowker (3x 100, 118, 140).

The Vine had Lucas Cieslik (100, 125) and M. Spence (2x100, 136, 2x140, 91 finish) throwing well.
