That follows two years of big success for the club, having become champions of the Louth League in 2025 for the first time since 1997 and runners-up in the West Wolds Evening League with their Friday team.

Richard Papps is club vice-chair and captain of the Wednesday team and he said: “With two matches to play, it's looking like we will finish second in the Louth Wolds League, not quite able to match the success of last season.

“We also have a team in the West Wolds Afternoon League who will finish about mid-table this season.

“Our club has about 25 members. We meet every Saturday afternoon for friendly 'roll ups' with tea and biscuits.

“We have inter-club singles, pairs and triples competitions and we are happy for new members to join us.”

Five times a season the club hold sponsored open tournaments, all-day Sundays, where bowlers from other Lincolnshire clubs compete, which are very beneficial for club finances.

“We are lucky to have one of the best bowling greens in the county,” said Papps.

“It is the envy of many other clubs. This is prepared chiefly by our excellent, hard-working groundsman with help from club members.

“Because of the quality of our green we have been able to host the semi-finals of some of the Lincolnshire County Bowls competitions this season.”
