Photo gallery: Wind and rain fail to stop runners in Sleaford Half Marathon

Overnight rain and strong winds added to the fun that almost 600 runners had completing the Sleaford Half Marathon.

The course is multi terrain and includes a good section of off road, starting and finishing at RAF Cranwell.

The winner in an amazing time of 1.08.1, almost 9 minutes ahead of the second athlete, was Matthew Bowser from Lincoln Wellington.

The race was organised by Sleaford Striders with over 40 members helping. A small number were available to take part in the event. Chris North was first Strider back to Cranwell in a great time of 1.22.31 followed by Kevin Garrick in 1.31.23. Sandy Telfer was next in 1.34.49. Young Jordan Williams in his first ever half marathon completed the course in 1.37.46.

Hannah North was the first woman Sleaford Strider back in 1.57.13 and Hayley Bostock only one second behind in 1.37.14. Alan Buckberry started the race as the last person, for charity,and managed to overtake 198 others, finishing in 2.02.50. Paul Shaw ran from home to the race and still completed in 2.23.14 before running home again.

A record total of 87 runners took part in the 3k Fun Run. The race was won by Junior Strider Harry Denton with Andrew Mulhall second and third was Holly Aslin.
