Formed three years ago by Mark Bean, Mark Cleaver and Tony Holmes, the club has had a meteoric rise in the world of rugby league.

A final in their first year in the merit league, followed by the plate final last season has proved that they are a growing rugby league force in the Midlands.

As if being league runners up wasn’t enough, the Boston outfit also headed league stats, with winger Jonathan Spencer top try scorer with 14 and half back Dan Mackie leading the league in points scored with 105 and most goals, 40.

The Buccaneers also beat every team in the league and were unbeaten at home.

The 40 players who have pulled on a Buccaneers’ shirt this season can be justifiably proud of their achievements.

The club says that none of this success would be possible without the generosity of the Buccaneers’ sponsors and the continued assistance of Boston RFC.

Coach Bean commented: “I have nothing but admiration and pride for this club’s ‘never say die’ attitude

“Included in this, is the fantastic work put in by the dynamic duo of Mark Cleaver and Rachel Wenninger, whose management and support for these warriors is relentless.

“On many occasions this season the team entered the arena as second best only to walk off as the victors.

“The club’s focus is now truly aimed at the play-offs next week were our objective is to gain a Midlands grand final position.”
