It was a warm July morning for 24 members of BCR who made their way to the Revesby Estate in the heart of Lincolnshire to Race the Estate, organised by Boston company Trident Sports Events.

The location provided stunning scenery, with runners setting off for various distances from the deer park and off into tree lined routes presenting a mix of cross country, tarmac and gravel tracks.

The event also included Challenge the Estate - a one-of-a-kind 10-stage endurance test that pushes both mind and body. Runners complete each stage within an ever decreasing time limit to move on to the next 5k lap.

Boston Community Runners had three teams in the Challenge which was the first event away at 8am.

Simon Jackson, Jacky Walsingham, SJ and Richard Eggleton made up one team, Zoe Ward, Lola Ward, Kimberley Bolland and Matt Featherstone made up the second team and Joining forces in team three were Charlie North and Tanya Knight.

The 5k laps challenge was continuing as the other distances started with the half marathon away first.

Renata Forinton was the club’s sole representative in this one, tackling her first half marathon on a fairly tough, mainly off road course.

Recording a superb time of 2.20.08, Renata took third place in her age category.

The 5k was away next and saw Nick Turner leading the BCR crew home whilst taking it easy for him as he recovered from an injury. Nick finished in 35.56.

He was followed in by Carole Page taking second in her age category in 38.08 and Debbie Petley in 44.37.

The 10k event saw 10 Boston runners in the starting line up and all had great runs around the beautiful route.

Steve Hubbard led the black and yellow stripes home in a time of 53.15 and was followed in by Sarah Lea who's running is getting stronger with every event.

Sarah Crossed the finish in 54.48 taking second in her age category.

Following her in, and also taking second in her age category was Terri-Ann Robinson in a time of 58.05.

Peter Mittertreiner was next home in 1.05.23 just ahead of Sean Koussoulos (1.06.33) and Mary Turner (1.08.03).

Bryony Saint is putting some strong runs in now and was very pleased with her 1.10.31.

Clare Teesdale clocked 1.13.39 and was followed in by Sarah Burton (1.16.01) and Jayne Ashton (1.20.30), all pleased with their runs.

As those events finished the runners took time to refuel from the trade stands on offer whilst watching the Challenge reach its climax.

Zoe's team did well and exceeded their expectations covering a total distance of 30K as a team just not being able to beat the stage six time of 28 minutes.

SJ and her team also went further than they thought they would, with all the encouragement egging them on the team managed to get to stage eight, just not making the cut off for stage nine which was 22 minutes.

Meanwhile, it was Charlie and Tanya who had made it through to the last stage with two other teams.

Charlie took the run - stage 10, a 5k off road loop in under 20 minutes.

And, what a way to win and beat the Challenge. Charlie completed his last lap in 18.16.

Having already run 30k throughout the morning it was a well deserved win and he crossed the finish to huge cheers from the crowds who had stayed to watch the finale.

It was a tough mornings racing in the heat and hills – especially being a cross country event but everyone was in praise for the route and atmosphere provided by Trident Sports Events.
