David loses 3st and is crowned Skegness Diamond Member 2026
A Slimming World member from Skegness has been awarded the title of Diamond Member of the Year 2026 for setting a dazzling example of long-term weight loss.
David joined the Slimming World group in July 2023 and lost 3st 2lbs to reach his target weight by June 2024 and achieved target.

Even more impressively, he’s kept the weight off ever since.
The title is awarded to the group member who has not only lost weight but maintained that loss for a year or more, and is voted for by the members of their Slimming World group.
David decided to join Slimming World as a incentive to get into shape – meet people after moving to the area, and to help and support his wife Natalie and has never felt better.
David says: “Before joining Slimming World, I felt stuck in a cycle - I was regularly starting and then stopping weight loss attempts or telling myself I’d start when Monday came around. I felt like I was in permanent limbo.
What made the difference this time was finding something I could genuinely stick to with helping and supporting my wife Natalie at the same time.
I didn’t feel restricted or like I was ‘on a diet’, I was learning how to eat and live in a way that actually fit into my life.”
David says the support he got from his Slimming World group was invaluable adding: “The group has been incredible.
Being surrounded by people who understand, encourage you and celebrate every win makes such a difference. It’s not just about the weight I’ve lost, it’s the confidence I’ve gained and the habits I’ve built that I know I’ll keep up for life. Even now, staying part of the group with my wife Natalie keeps me focused and reminds me how far I’ve come.”
David began following Slimming World’s healthy eating plan, Food Optimising, which encourages members to fill up on healthy, satisfying foods like fruit and veg, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat and fish so they lose weight without going hungry or feeling deprived. He says: “I’ve completely changed the way I think about food.
We cook more from scratch, try new recipes and still enjoy all my favourite meals in a healthier way. It doesn’t feel like I’ve given anything up, if anything, I’ve gained so much more variety and balance in what I eat. My plates are so colourful now, where often they were quite beige before!”
In time, David was inspired by the group and their discussion of Slimming World’s active lifestyle programme to increase his activity levels
“Becoming more active has been a huge part of maintaining my weight loss. I started small, but over time I’ve built up my strength and fitness. It’s helped my confidence so much and I feel stronger and more energised.
"Now I strength train and just love cycling, walking and golfing as my cardio exercise. It’s just part of my routine rather than something I feel I have to do.”
Since reaching his target weight in June 2024 David and Natalie continue to attend the Tuesday morning Slimming World group and believes without their support it would’ve been harder to keep the weight off. Slimming World members who achieve their target can continue to attend their local group every week free of charge.
David continues: “I’ve made lifelong friends in group. It’s such a positive, uplifting space and it keeps me accountable. Now I love being able to support others on their journeys too, it means a lot to give back what was given to me.”
Jo Diamond, who runs the group that David attends, says: “Maintaining weight loss takes commitment, consistency and support and is a fantastic example of what’s possible when all those things come together.
What’s especially inspiring is how David embraced a healthy, balanced lifestyle and made it his own, from the way he eats to becoming more active and building strength.
He’s such a positive role model within our group and his achievement as our Diamond Member 2026 is so well deserved.”
