Local support organisations receive £4,000 boost through Asda Foundation Fund
Four organisations providing essential food support across the Boston area are set to benefit from a combined £4,000 in funding through the Asda Foundation's Foodbank Fundamentals Fund, helping them continue their invaluable work supporting local residents facing financial hardship.

The grants have been awarded at a time when many families and individuals continue to experience the ongoing impact of rising living costs, with demand for foodbanks, community meals, pantries and emergency food provision remaining high across the area.
The Foodbank Fundamentals Fund is one of several initiatives delivered by the Asda Foundation, an independent charitable foundation supported by Asda, which works to strengthen local communities and support grassroots organisations responding to local needs.
The fund is designed to provide practical assistance to food support groups that are often working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure vulnerable people have access to essentials.
Among the recipients is Boston Centenary Methodist Church's Community Meals programme, which has received £1,000 to help purchase food supplies including fresh produce, meats, tinned goods and cooking ingredients. The funding will also support the delivery of two special seasonal community meals, bringing people together and helping to combat loneliness while providing nutritious food.
Spilsby Christian Fellowship has also been awarded £1,000 to support the purchase of essential food items and personal hygiene products for people accessing its services. The funding will help ensure that individuals and families experiencing hardship can continue to receive practical support when they need it most.
Meanwhile, Holbeach Community Larder has secured £1,000 to purchase food and household essentials for emergency food parcels. The grant will help the organisation maintain supplies and respond quickly to requests for assistance from local residents facing crisis situations.
Project St Thomas, a pastoral initiative of the Catholic community in Spalding has also received £1,000 from the Asda Foundation. The grant will enable the charity to purchase vital food supplies, helping it continue to provide essential support to local people and families experiencing financial hardship.
By helping organisations meet day-to-day running costs and maintain food supplies, the funding aims to strengthen community support networks and ensure help remains available for those who need it most.
Across Lincolnshire, community food projects play a vital role in supporting residents who may be experiencing financial difficulties, social isolation or unexpected personal challenges. Many of these organisations rely heavily on volunteers, charitable donations and fundraising efforts, while also facing increasing pressures from higher operating costs and growing demand for their services.
The latest funding awards recognise the significant impact these groups make in their communities and provide additional resources to help sustain their work.
The funding was championed locally through Asda's Community Champion programme, which works closely with community groups to identify local needs and connect organisations with available support opportunities.
Stephen Bromby, Community Champion at Asda's Lister Way store in Boston, said: "Foodbanks and local food support organisations provide an essential service to many people across our communities, often supporting residents at some of the most challenging times in their lives.
"These groups are seeing continued demand for their services and are frequently dealing with the additional pressures of rising costs, reduced donations and challenges in recruiting volunteers. We are delighted that this funding can help support the fantastic work they do and ensure they can continue providing assistance to local people who rely on their services."
The Foodbank Fundamentals Fund reflects the Asda Foundation's commitment to supporting local organisations that are making a direct and meaningful difference within their communities. By investing in food support projects, the foundation is helping to strengthen local resilience and ensure community groups can continue responding to some of the most urgent challenges facing families today.
Working closely with Asda Community Champions across the country, the Asda Foundation identifies opportunities to provide targeted support where it can have the greatest impact. Through funding programmes such as the Foodbank Fundamentals Fund, the foundation continues to empower local organisations, helping them deliver practical support, foster stronger community connections and improve the lives of people living in their local areas.
For the four local organisations receiving grants, the funding will provide welcome support as they continue their mission of ensuring no one in the community is left without access to food and essential items when they are needed most.
Shoppers at Asda's Boston supermarket are also continuing to make a difference in the local community through the store's permanent foodbank collection trolley. Located behind the checkouts at the Lister Way store, and available all year round, the donation point provides customers with an easy way to give food, toiletries and other essential household items to Boston Foodbank. The initiative helps ensure that vital supplies reach individuals and families facing financial hardship, while strengthening support networks across the Boston area. Donations are collected regularly by volunteers, helping the team to respond to growing demand for emergency assistance. The store is encouraging anyone who is able to donate an extra item during their shop, highlighting the generosity and community spirit that continues to make a real difference to the lives of local residents.
