Organised by the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH), the event will take place at the Springfield Conference Centre, Spalding, on Tuesday 24 November from 10am to 3.30pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet healthcare professionals, voluntary organisations and support services from across Lincolnshire.

The event aims to help people affected by cancer access information, advice and practical support that promotes wellbeing throughout the cancer journey.

Attendees will be able to hear from a range of professionals and organisations covering topics including exercise and rehabilitation, welfare benefits, nutrition, psychological support, cancer prehabilitation, carers' support and services for people living with the long-term effects of cancer treatment.

The programme will also include two interactive wellbeing sessions in the afternoon, including mindfulness and chakra dancing, alongside opportunities to speak with healthcare teams and support organisations at information stalls throughout the day.

Beverley Flockhart, Macmillan Information and Support Services Lead at ULTH, said: "Cancer can affect people physically, emotionally and financially, and it is often a very overwhelming time. It affects whole families, not only the patient. That's why we wanted to raise awareness of the emotional, practical, financial and wellbeing support available to patients and their loved ones.

"We hope that during the day we will help people affected by cancer connect with professionals and organisations in an informal environment, away from the busy hospital setting often associated with treatment.

"Living with cancer, or supporting a loved one affected by cancer, can bring many challenges, but connecting with others, sharing experiences and accessing support can help people feel less alone.

"If the Spalding event is successful, we will look at repeating it in other areas of the county."

The event will feature presentations from healthcare professionals and support organisations, including Fighting Fit, the St Barnabas Welfare Benefits Team, the Radiotherapy and Macmillan Pelvic Late Effects Service, the HOPE programme, the Macmillan Psychology Service, Oncology Dietetics, Andy's Man Club, the Cancer Prehabilitation Service and Carers First.

Information stalls will include representatives from local support services, community organisations and healthcare teams.

The event is free to attend and includes refreshments and lunch. Anyone affected by cancer who would like to attend is encouraged to book their place in advance.
