Art group set to hold first exhibition in Skegness

A group of artists are to hold their first exhibition at a Lincolnshire coastal resort.

It will be the first major exhibition by South Lincolnshire Artists, to be held in Skegness, at Hildred’s Shopping Centre, during September, bringing together a diverse collection of artists from across South Lincolnshire for a celebration of creativity, talent and the cultural life of the region.

South Lincolnshire Artists is a not-for-profit collective of artists living and working in South Lincolnshire, brought together to promote local artistic talent and provide opportunities for artists to exhibit their work and engage with the wider community

The exhibition will showcase original work from more than 20 local artists and crafters working across a variety of styles and mediums, offering visitors the opportunity to discover and support some of the area’s creative talent. They will be showing watercolours, oil and acrylic paintings, ceramics, mosaics and willow basketry. There will be unframed works in the browsers and cards too.

Their Summer Show will be officially opened by the Mayor of Skegness, Councillor Dan Kirk, at 6pm on Saturday, September 5.

It will be open to the public from 10am till 5pm on September 5, 6, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26.

With the town welcoming thousands of visitors throughout the year, the organisers hope the exhibition will add to Skegness’s growing cultural offering and demonstrate that the Lincolnshire coast has much more to offer than its traditional attractions.

Visitors will be able to view the work, meet some of the artists and discover the wide range of artistic talent within the region.

The organisers thank the exhibition’s sponsors and founding supporters, whose backing has helped make this first major exhibition possible.
