Positive activities manager Rob Pitman, who runs the town’s All About You youth scheme, says an independent cinema project is currently ‘under
development’.

He said: “We are in the process of developing some of the ideas submitted by the community as ‘campaigns’ on the All About You
website.

“One in particular that is ‘under development’ is the community cinema.

“We are at the very early stages of working with members of the community to scope and potentially set up a locally managed independent cinema.”

All About You is a £15k government-backed pilot project to give young people more opportunities.

The funding, from the government’s Our Place scheme, was awarded to Caistor Town Council last
year.

Unlike many other projects aimed at young people, this scheme focuses on getting youngsters involved in planning activities and events themselves.

Activities arranged so far have included a web design project, which attracted a small number of people, and a poet event, which failed to generate any interest at all.

Town clerk Helen Pitman said: “This is an innovative scheme.

“It was seen as an innovative way of taking youth provision forward because there have been so many
cuts.”

Anyone who would like to be involved in the project should contact Rob Pitman.
