Enjoy a hot or cold pudding absolutely free of charge when you dine at the Mowbray, on presentation of a completed coupon printed in this week’s Epworth Bells.

Licensee Shaun Scalley has a whole array of tempting pub sweets on offer ,from warming comfort food to favourites such as apple pie, cherry pie, sticky toffee pudding spotted dick, jam roly poly, cheesecake or choc olate fudge cake.

And there is much more opportunity to sample the Mowbray’s spread of pub food choices with a two meals for £11 offer that is available at lunchtimes and evenings, noon to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm from Tuesday to Friday.

Carveries continue to be popular on Sundays from noon to 6pm with options of roast beef, pork loin or chicken breast with a medley of fresh vegetables, home-made Yorkshire puddings and mashed and roast potatoes, all for £7.95.

There are meals to suit every taste and these are all freshly cooked to order. Expect steak’n’ale pie, fish and chips, lasagne and chilli among the range on the menu.

Steak nights are on Tuesdays from 6pm, with yet another value for money deal in the form of two steaks and a bottle of wine for £20. Steaks include a 10oz rib eye, 10oz sirloin or 12 oz gammon.

Children’s portions are always available with meals. Saturday servings are from noon to 8pm.

Live music often features at the Mowbray but this summer, for the first time, the pub will stage its own all-day charity ‘Mowbray Fest’ on July 11, with no less than 15 bands performing, and an outside bar and barbecue along with other attractions.

Tickets are available from the pub priced £10 each, and all proceeds from the day will go to help the Lindsey Lodge Hospice at Scunthorpe that serves the people of the Isle.

It is a year since former Wetherspoons manager Shaun first moved to the Mowbray from Harworth in Nottinghamshire, and he is thrilled with the welcome he has received during his first 12 months in Epworth.

He has overseen a refurbishment of the Mowbray , for the comfort of all those who use it, and has steadily expanded the menu with mostly home-cooked pub fare along with the carvery and steaks.

Prior to the Mowbray Fest in July, the Mowbray Arms will be involved with another major event on the Epworth calendar, the Isle Tractor Run, also in aid of Lindsey Lodge.

Last year this tremendous spectacle that included a fly-past raised over £4,500 and it is hoped its second run on June 21, 2015, will pull in even more much-needed funding.
