Fresh attraction to be held at the Isle’s Old Smithy

New exhibitions will feature in a Victorian Isle museum that re-opens its doors this weekend.

The Owston Ferry Smithy Museum and Heritage Centre will be open on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from this week for the whole summer.

And visitors to the attraction can look forward to finding out about the traditional art of clog making.

As an extra treat, on Sunday, there will be a clog dancing demonstration.

The latest exhibition is on loan from Normanby Hall Farming Museum, and adds to the rich local history recorded inside the old smithy, where time stands still.

Last year the Owston Ferry Society, who own the museum, launched special heritage trail guides using a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Further information about the sites of interest is available inside the Smithy Museum that is open from 2pm to 5pm on its open days.
