Mother Goose panto flies Into The Playhouse for Christmas
Sleaford Little Theatre are gearing up for their grand return to Pantoland this December when their production of Mother Goose lands at The Playhouse.
For two weeks, the stage will burst into life with laughter, music, magical mayhem, and more than a few feathers.

Opening on December 3, the amateur dramatics group will present ten evening and matinee performances up to December 13, promising a family-friendly festive spectacular filled with larger-than-life characters, dazzling costumes, and a goose with a lot of personality.
Says director Laura Davies: “A slightly fresh take on panto has been my vision from start to finish, but at the same time we’ve kept all the traditional components in place, the ghost gag, the sing-along, and the ‘oh yes, it is’ moments, which I have to say the cast have thoroughly enjoyed too. Hopefully children, young and old alike, will enjoy this production which brings panto back into the theatre in this, our 75th year as a drama group.”

With a script by local writer Kei Bailey, the classic tale follows the warm-hearted but often muddled Mother Goose as she stumbles into unexpected fortune when her beloved goose begins laying golden eggs. With diabolical tricksters, temptations, and a few mischievous surprises waiting in the wings, she soon discovers that true happiness can’t be bought, even with gold. Audiences can expect songs, comedy, twists and turns, and plenty of audience participation. The production boasts a talented local cast, a creative team buzzing with festive spirit, and a set that will transform The Playhouse into a magical realm with village greens and dark woodlands, plus surprises.
The Playhouse’s newly launched cinema will round off the year with one final film screening, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Showing times are Friday, December 19 at 7pm and Saturday December 20 at 2.30pm. Tickets: £5 - available online / on the door (subject to availability)
Chair of Trustees Andy Canadine said: “This year we’ve been celebrating a number of anniversaries: the theatre group reaching its 75th birthday, The Playhouse building reaching 200 years of age, and 25 years since our society reopened The Playhouse as a dedicated theatre. The stars have really aligned for us this year, and it seemed fitting to end with a Christmas film that is also celebrating its 25th anniversary.”
Panto tickets are available now via The Playhouse website or their Box Office at Dee’s Gifts on the Riverside Centre. Cinema tickets are available online only at sleafordplayhouse.co.uk/tickets
