GCSE RESULTS: Celebrations at Kirton's Thomas Middlecott Academy

Celebrations have been taking place at Kirton’s Thomas Middlecott Academy today (Thursday, August 20) as pupils collect their GCSE and BTEC results.

This year’s Year 11 sat their examinations in May and June, following ‘months of preparation and extra support, including exam masterclasses, drop-in events and additional revision resources’, the academy said

“Thomas Middlecott Academy is proud of all the hard work and dedication students and staff have shown and celebrate with them today as they collected their results,” a spokesman said.

The school made special mention of some top performers:

Principal Jude Hunton said: “Today is an important moment for our Year 11 students. I am delighted to celebrate the achievements of Lily, Callum, Marta and Emily, whose results reflect their hard work, perseverance and determination.

“We are proud of all the students, who have worked hard, overcome challenges and secured the next step in their education. Results day is not only about grades; it is about young people moving forward with confidence, purpose and ambition.”

Mr Hunton gave particular thanks to Mrs Baldwin, the pupils’ head of year, for her ‘care, encouragement and commitment’ she has shown to the year group.

Closing, he said: “Thomas Middlecott Academy remains firmly focused on raising expectations and improving outcomes for all its students. The academy begins the new academic year with renewed ambition and a clear commitment to ensuring that every young person receives the support, challenge and opportunities they need to succeed.”

Thomas Middlecott Academy is part of the David Ross Education Trust, which was established in 2007. It is a group of 36 primary and secondary schools.

Chief executive officer Simon Rose said: “Very many congratulations to all our students collecting GCSE results today, from everyone at DRET. These excellent grades reflect the hard work, determination and dedication by our wonderful young people, their teachers and the whole school community.

“We wish all of our Year 11s every success in whatever they choose to do next.”
