The Deepings School to run a Combined Cadet Force

Staff are currently undergoing training to run the programme and students at The Deepings will be able to join the CCF in January
The Deepings School, part of Anthem Schools Trust, is pleased to announce that it will be running a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) later this academic year.
Staff are currently undergoing training to deliver the programme and students will be able to join in January.
The Deepings is fortunate to have a member of staff - student support officer Graeme Osbourne - who has a military background.
Mr Osbourne, who served in the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, is very well placed to lead the CCF, with help from some staff volunteers.
The CCF is an educational partnership between the school and the Ministry of Defence.
The scheme offers young people a broad range of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities which will help to develop personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline.
The Deepings will join some 500 secondary schools all over the UK in having a CCF contingent.
Kirstie Johnson, head teacher at The Deepings School, said: “We are delighted to be preparing for this programme, which we will offer to students at The Deepings in January.
“Graeme Osbourne, one of our student support officers, will be leading on this exciting new project at The Deepings. Mr Osbourne’s military background serves him very well to deliver this in school, along with staff volunteers.
“We hope that many of our young people will take up this opportunity, giving them the life skills and self-confidence to take charge of their lives so they can reach their full potential at school and beyond.”
