A staff nurse at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital who had tested positive for coronavirus has died.

The United Lincolnshire Health Trust has today confirmed that Anujkumar Kuttikkottu Pavithran died last night.

Trust chief executive Andrew Morgan said: “I am deeply saddened to share the news that one of our colleagues, who had tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19), sadly died last night.

"Anujkumar Kuttikkottu Pavithran, known as Kumar to his colleagues, was a staff nurse at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. He was a very well liked, professional, respected member of the team and will be greatly missed.

"We are all sending our heartfelt condolences to Kumar’s family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.”

A fundraising campaign has been set up on Facebook to help his family.

It can be found here According to the page, Anujkumar, who was 44, had worked for the NHS for the past nine years.

He leaves a wife and two children, the page says.

The fundraising is to help with the funeral costs and to support the family going forward.
