Lincolnshire Coronavirus: Care homes get £10.5m

Care homes in Lincolnshire will get nearly £10.5 million to support residents and staff, it has been announced.

The money will be used to protect wages, improve access to personal protective equipment (PPE) training, reduce transmission and step-up clinical support.

Boston and Skegness MP Matt Warman welcomed the funding, adding: “Care staff are among the heroes of this pandemic – working tirelessly to support those in our community who need it the most.

“I do not underestimate how challenging a time this is for people living and working in care

“This new funding will make a real difference.”

The move is part of a £600 million package from the government and comes on top of £3.2 billion already made available to local authorities.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “From the very start of this outbreak, we have been working to protect our brilliant social care workforce and the most vulnerable in our society.”
