Museum talk documents effect of Great War on Lincolnshire towns

The story of a search for two Lincolnshire brothers who served in the First World War will be the subject of a talk by Sleaford Museum Trust’s treasurer.

Trust treasurer and local historian Jonathan Smith will talk about the effect of the First World War on Lincolnshire towns including Sleaford, Stamford and Bourne (as well as Lincoln) before revealing some of the information he found while researching his two great uncles who died near Ypres in Belgium during the conflict.

The information has come from a variety of sources including the family (a few photographs), websites like the National Archive and Ancestry, and more recent additions to the British Newspaper Archive.

The talk entitled The Search for Two Lincolnshire Brothers, will take place on Tuesday, September 29 at St Denys’ Church Room off the Market Place in Sleaford, starting at 7.30pm.

Admission is £3 for non-members and £1 for members and there will be refreshments. Donations welcome.
