Advice event for Isle’s jobseekers aged 40 and over

North Lincolnshire Council has worked with Job Centre Plus to organise the free 40-plus options event on Friday, January 23 to offer specific employment advice and support.

The event at Scunthorpe Job Centre Plus from 10am to 3pm is suitable for people aged 40 and over who are looking for work, training/retraining or becoming self-employed.

Coun Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council will open the event at 10am. Susan Park, member of Department for Work and Pensions Operations Executive Team will attend and Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP, will be there at 1pm.

Throughout the day there will be mock interview sessions, motivational speakers and CV workshops that are all free to take part in. A whole range of experts will advise on issues including:

Careers advice including how to look for work in the 21st century

Volunteering and work placements

Agencies

Training providers

Health trainers and health checks

Drug and alcohol awareness

Admin Centre

Business advisors

Enterprise Allowance

Driving schools (online theory tests)

Digital support

Pension credit advice

Better off calculations

Benefits advice including universal credit

It’s important that everyone gets the same opportunities and anyone over 40 years-old will be able to speak to a whole host of employers and organisations. They will be able to gain valuable advice on looking for work, training and becoming self-employed.

“It’s a priority for us to work with residents to help them secure jobs and get on to the career path they want to follow.

“If you are looking for a change in career or want to train in a different area then go along to the event. There will be a range of employers there, which is a great opportunity to find out what they are looking for in employees. You will also be able to get help with writing your CV and have a go at mock interviews.”
