The MP, who is chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Pancreatic Cancer, visited a fundraising market stall being held in Brigg, to support fundraisers.

He is pictured at the stall with Andrew Markham and Zoe Hall, who have led the local group in raising £3,500 during the past year.

“Their efforts have been fantastic, not only in raising money but also raising awareness of the disease,” said Mr Dakin. “Survival rates for this disease have stood still for so long and it is the efforts of such groups that has seen the campaign put more on the agenda.”

An 18-mile sponsored bike ride last September was one of the most successful fundraising initiatives in the past 12 months.

Now the year 2016-17 will be the next challenge in fundraising for Zoe, Andrew and their fellow PCRG supporters. Things got off to a good start, with the market stall raising £684.
