Councillor Ballard takes the chains as new Mayor of Louth

Louth Town Council formally elected the new Mayor of Louth - who will serve the town over the next 12 months - at their meeting this week.

Councillor Eileen Ballard, who served as Deputy Mayor for 2015/16, took over the role from Councillor Sue Locking on Tuesday evening (May 17).

She was elected unanimously by her fellow councillor, having been proposed for the role by Coun Jill Makinson-Sanders and seconded by Coun George Horton.

It will be Coun Ballard’s third spell as Mayor, having served previously in 1997 and 2005.

Coun Ballard’s new Deputy Mayor is Coun Pauline Watson, who was proposed for the role by George Horton and seconded by Coun Chris Green.
