Graffiti artist cross about damaged pedestrian crossing
An unhappy Louth resident has turned to graffiti in an attempt to shame Lincolnshire County Council Highways officials to hurry up and fix a damaged light at a pedestrian crossing in the town.
The white-painted letters have reportedly appeared overnight and were discovered this morning (Tuesday, August 11) around the broken stump of a light on the zebra crossing on Upgate near to the junction with Mercer Row in Louth.
Chairman of Louth Town Council, Coun Karen Parsons said it would appear a frustrated resident has painted the words ‘danger’, circles and arrows pointing at the broken light post.
She said: “I have spoken to a few people and one councillor learned that people were frustrated that the crossing light post has not been repaired yet.

"The light was damaged some time ago and there is a metal structure sticking up about three feet high and not particularly safe.”
She said that Lincolnshire County Council were fully aware but she understood that they were awaiting an electrician to fix the electrics inside the post before it can be renewed. They are also now aware of the graffiti, she said.
"Unfortunately it’s never a quick fix with these things. I can see the sentiment but it (graffiti) is not the right approach,” said Coun Parsons.
A Lincolnshire County Council spokesperson said the light post replacement works are planned to happen on Sunday, September 13. A crew will clear away the graffiti as soon as possible, at an additional cost to the council.
