Lincolnshire Police say they have launched a murder investigation into the incident after a woman was found unconscious at a property in Horncastle and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. We believe there are no outstanding suspects at this time.

“We received a report that a 27-year-old woman had suffered serious injuries at a property on Warwickshires Way, Horncastle at 4.23pm on Thursday April 2.”

As it is an active investigation they warned residents that there will be an ongoing police presence in the area while officers work to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation and are keeping an open mind as to how this tragic incident unfolded. Our priority is to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death.

“We are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything - no matter how insignificant it may seem - to contact us. Any piece of information could prove vital in helping us piece together exactly what happened and in securing justice for the victim.”
