Skegness woman jailed after breaching Criminal Behaviour Order and stealing from local shops

A Skegness woman has been sent to prison after breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and stealing from two stores in the town, Lincolnshire Police report.

Lorna Smith, 39, of Royal Oak Terrace, Roman Bank, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 9.

She was jailed for 30 weeks and ordered to pay compensation after pleading guilty to two counts of shop theft, three breaches of a CBO, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Smith had been served the CBO on February 23, which barred her from entering retail premises in Skegness, except for two specified stores. Despite this, she was found to have stolen a pack of donuts, a box of vapes, and a pack of Desperado beers from shops in the town.

Skegness Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Jacky Evans said the case highlighted the importance of CBOs in protecting communities.

“CBOs aim to curb harmful behaviour while also offering opportunities for rehabilitation through behaviour-change programmes. They give the courts and police a clear tool to prevent repeat offending and restore confidence in the community,” she said.

Inspector Evans added that visible action against individuals who cause harm shows residents that their concerns are being taken seriously.

“Effective use of CBOs and robust follow-up of breaches demonstrates our commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour in Skegness,” she said.

Lincolnshire Police note that Criminal Behaviour Orders are used to target individuals who repeatedly engage in criminal or anti-social conduct, setting enforceable conditions to stop behaviour such as harassment, vandalism, alcohol-related disorder, or public nuisance.
