On the Saturday night a 1950s Music Night was attended by over 70 people, who were entertained by the music of ‘Echoes of the Past’ and Steve B.

The bring a plate buffet was generously supplied so that no one went hungry, and revellers danced the night away.

The next day, Sunday September 18, saw many people travelling from afar to attend the open hall and garden at the Memorial Hall, with over 100 people visiting the exhibition on the hall’s history put together by Helpringham History Society.

Hall secretary Laraine Wright said visitors also enjoyed the garden where Helpringham Gardening Club held a plant sale and, along with the Petticoat Club, exhibited their histories and present activities.

The local bell ringers rang a full peel from St Andrew’s Church in the village to celebrate the jubilee. Also, to commemorate the event, the present committee of the hall were presented with a framed photograph of the Memorial Hall with inserts of its 60 year history and its present usage. This is now hung in the hall.
