Dog duo picked for BGT show

Judges selected their semi-finalists on Saturday’s show and the dancing dog duo will be on TV tomorrow (Thursday).

With all the hopefuls lined up on stage, Lucy, 30, said she didn’t know what to expect having not seen the other acts.

“He (Simon Cowell) does genuinely leave a massive silence before he tells you whether you are through or not and I started to panic a bit, but it was brilliant to know I was through,” she said.

Lucy and little Pomeranian-Maltese cross Trip Hazard had wowed the judges with their tricks in the audition show in April, but have had to wait to hear whether they get selected, with the decision only being filmed shortly before the show was aired.

She said although only small, Trip’s size means he can do unique tricks such as walk under her on his back legs.

There are five semi-finals running this week, since Sunday, with Lucy and Trip being in the last one. The public vote and the judges each select a finalist from each show.

Lucy said: “I don’t know who I’m up against on Thursday. We have been rehearsing two new routines, just in case we get to the final. I feel I am taking a risk with my semi-final routine as it could go wrong, but if it goes right it should be good. It is a brand new trick that I don’t think has ever been done.

“I have had to hold some things back because I don’t want to give everything away and then have to do something not as good in the final.”

Her parents, partner and friends will be cheering her on in the audience tomorrow. Lucy said she would be devastated not to get through to the final at the Fountain Studios in Wembley.

The pair were inundated with messages from friends and fans after her first appearance. “Trip has a few more ‘likes’ on his Facebook page too,” she said.

This season’s winner will get £250,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance 2016.

Lucy won a Boxing Day ITV special called That Dog Can Dance with one of her other dogs, Indie, who also appeared on last year’s Britain’s Got More Talent show on ITV2 and won the Crufts Factor, but she said: “Even though I have done it before there has never been a reaction like this - to be on such a well known show.

“We ended up on This Morning the next day and were actually snapped by papparazzi.

“Trip enjoyed everything, going around the Green Room and getting onto laps and sitting with the sword swallower.”
