Donington catching up leaders

Donington 1 gained more ground on Boston Snooker Centre Super League Leaders Shodfriars 20 as they beat BSC 11.

Sean Swinburn put Dons 1-0 up before John Sharp levelled the scores.

Stuart Atkin moved Dons 3-1 ahead by defeating Mark Gratton, Josh Fell pulled a frame back but Vince Fitter took the next to make it 4-2 to Dons. Craig Fitter took the last two frames of the night against Luke Arons to secure a 6-2 Dons win.

BSC 2 recorded a creditable draw against leaders Shodfriars 20. Gary Charlton put BSC in to the lead when he defeated substitute Darren Adams. Stuart Whitaker and Tom Hill shared their frames, Joe Welch levelling the scores at 3-3 when he beat BSC 2 captain Grant Marshall 2-0.

Pete Grooby stole the next frame by one point to put BSC 2 4-3 up, only to see Darren Christian take the last and secure a 4-4 draw.

BSC 3 hosted BSC 20, the latter winning 5-3. Neil Hutson and Jamie Turner started proceedings and it was Turner who came away the comfortable victor and put BSC 20 2-0 in the lead. Steve Mooney made it 4-0 when he defeated Chris Ellis. Danny Newton made it 5-0 but Nigel Robinson responded by taking the next for BSC 3. Andy Swan took the last two, defeating Luis Hoyles.

In the Ocean Take Away Premier League, Cons 6 put the disappointment of last week’s defeat behind them by hammering BSC 16 8-0.

Ben Wrigglesworth started the proceedings with a comfortable victory over Brett Skinner. Craig Lee followed suit with a routine win over Paul Taylor. With the scores at 4-0 to Cons, Sam Hill defeated David Cutting in the closest match of the evening.

Chris Spencer went on last to seal the 8-0 win for Cons 6 as he defeated Paul Spencer.

BSC 10 suffered their second defeat of the season thanks a top performance by BSC 8. Steph Taylor put BSC 8 2-0 ahead when he defeated an out-of-sorts Dan Burt.

BSC 10’s Nick Hanson pulled a frame back for the 10 before dropping the next to Shaun Dunmore. Richard Ladds levelled the scores when he beat Adam Norton.

Gary Dunmore then defeated Liam South to secure a 5-3 victory for BSC 8.

Kirton 5 suffered a heavy defeat at hands of visitors Cons 5. Alan Haycock put Cons 2-0 up when he beat Jamie Brinkley. Steve Sharp levelled the match for Kirton when he defeated Nathan Yardley. Bill Spooner jnr then put Cons back in front, defeating Julian Furnell. Bill Spooner then secured a 6-2 win for Cons 5 by beating Andy Bush.

In the Cotts Builders Division One, Cons 3 got back to winning ways this week by defeating Kirton 5-3 in a close match. Pete Epton and Adam Gurton played out a draw to share the points and Paddy Kearns put Cons 3-1 up against Kevin Lymer. Ian Parnell pulled a frame back for Kirton before the in-form Graham Johnson took the next. Rob Carter made the scores 5-2 to Cons before Wayne Burton took the last frame of the night for Kirton.

Dave Cartwright and Ged Hall shared the opening frames as BSC 15 hosted Graves Park. Ian Russell and John Clarke then split the next two to leave the scores at 2-2. Chris Vere then put BSC 4-2 ahead by comfortably defeating John Hodgson. Jamie Rushin then secured a 6-2 win for BSC as he beat the previously undefeated Martin Hodgson.

West End travelled to BSC 6 in the Launchburys Division Two and came away 5-3 winners. Matthew Bradbury put West End in to the lead by beating Gordon Russell. Kevin Stait made it 4-0 as he defeated Alan Traynor and Paul Creasey pulled two frames back for BSC as he beat Darryl Green. John Bell then made it 5-2 to West End, before Paul Argyle pinched the last frame of the evening to leave the scores at 5-3 to West End.

Craig Churchman and Andy Bird shared the opening frames as BSC 7 hosted BSC 18. Jimmy Birtwhistle then put the visitors 3-1 ahead when he defeated Andy Cooley. Chris Hirst levelled the scores at 3-3 when he crushed Connor Charlton. Jason Pocklington was then given a 2-0 win and made the score 5-3 to BSC 7 when BSC 18 couldn’t field a fourth player.
