Five car collision blocks A17 near Heckington

A five car collision caused the A17 between Heckington and East Heckington to be closed last night (Tuesday, February 17).
Emergency services attended the scene of the collision near the Carter’s Plot layby with drivers being diverted down nearby country lanes
Lincolnshire Police reporting on social media at 10.25pm asked motorists to avoid the area.
No further update has yet been given about injuries of occupants or the seriousness of the crash.
- Early that evening, a fire crew from Sleaford was called to a car fire nearby on Clay Bank, South Kyme.
The incident was reported at around 6.43pm and a fire service spokesperson said a fault within the engine compartment led to severe fire damage to the car which was extinguished by firefighters in breathing apparatus using a hose and thermal imaging cameras.
