Lifeguards in Lincolnshire issue warning ahead of England's World Cup clash with Argentina

A special safety warning has been issued by RNLI Lifeguards across Lincolnshire as the country prepares to cheer on England for their match with Argentina tonight (July 15).

“It’s coming home – make sure you do, too!” – that’s the message from the Lifeguard team, who are highlighting the dangers of swimming in the sea whilst drunk. “We’ll be cheering on the boys tomorrow and hoping they make it through to the final,” a spokesperson said. “But this World Cup has already had consequences along the coast.” The life-saving team said they have seen an increase in incidents on local beaches and along the coastline, “both directly and indirectly relating to World Cup matches, specifically England games”. Referring to national incidents, they went on: “Swimming after drinking alcohol has already cost lives this summer, help us make sure it doesn’t lead to any more tragedies. “Enjoy the football safely, and make sure you’re there for the next game.”
