UPDATE: Police confirm Wainfleet Road closure linked to separate Jobcentre incident
Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that an incident reported near Morrisons on Wainfleet Road, Skegness, which led to part of the road being closed, was unrelated to a fire on Old Wainfleet Road.
Police said the situation was caused by a report of a suspicious package at Jobcentre Plus on Wainfleet Road, which was called in at 11.37am today.
Officers attended the scene and located a package. Following checks, police confirmed the item was empty and not suspicious.
As a result, officers have now been stood down and the incident has been safely resolved.
The incident was logged by police as Incident 131 of today.
Earlier confusion led some members of the public to believe the closure was connected to Morrisons or the nearby fire, but police have stressed the two incidents were separate.
Traffic disruption was reported in the area while officers were in attendance.
