Dylan Hill return likely as Boston United host Leicester City in last League Cup game

Boston United favourite Dylan Hill looks set to play a part in tomorrow night's final home National League Cup clash with Leicester City's youngsters (Tuesday, 7pm).

The popular midfielder underwent shoulder surgery in the summer but is back in training and manager Paul Hurst said: “There is a fair chance Dylan will get some minutes

“It was tempting to put him on the bench on Saturday. But I think that would have been a bit selfish on my part, as much as we would like to see him there. But he'd only had two days training.

“He ran into a mini goal to test his shoulder out and I think he hurt another part of his anatomy – the took a ball into the same part of it in training yesterday!

“I think males will have some sympathy and understanding of where that might be!

“But it is great to see him back out there with his enthusiasm and energy – he is very infectious and can only add to the group.

“It's fantastic if he is coming back at the point of the group getting a bit more confident and showing a bit more of what they are capable of.”

After two home wins in five days lifted the Pilgrims out of the National League drop zone, Boston now face a blank weekend ahead.

So Hurst needs to decide which players need rest and who needs more minutes tomorrow as the Pilgrims seek a first win in the competition, sitting bottom of Group D after losing all three openers.

“I will give it some thought in terms of people getting some minutes,” he said.

“Nick Pozo is ruled out with suspension, so he won't play a part.

“It hasn't been the case but I have always picked teams in this competition that should be capable of winning it.

“The first game against Birmingham we did make a couple of changes and played some younger lads.

“That perhaps didn't help us see the game out.

“But we have been more than strong enough to get results and just haven't managed to do that.

“Tuesday I would like us to get a win if we can.

“That gives us quite a big break then between that and the next game at Carlisle, which, of course, will be extremely tough.”

United have suffered narrow defeats to Birmingham City (3-2), West Bromwich Albion (1-0) and Southampton (6-5), while the Foxes have drawn with Sutton United (0-0) and Woking (2-2) before suffering penalty shoot-out defeats in both games.

Leicester also suffered a 4-1 defeat at Truro City in their other fixture.

Should the scoreline remain level after 90 minutes, the match will head to penalties to determine the destination of an extra point.

The club are only opening the Acorn Taxis (West) Stand for this fixture – with tickets on sale here or contactless payments available on the turnstiles.

The shuttle bus service is not running for this fixture. Car park season pass holders can utilise their normal spaces.
