'We are living through a nightmare': Suite Dreams furniture store reflects on devastating Skegness fire
The family behind Suite Dreams, a long-standing home furnishings store in Skegness, have spoken out following the fire that has destroyed their business.
In a statement, the owners thanked emergency services for their swift response and the local community for their support. They said:

“Your messages, calls, and support during this devastating time have been a lifeline. This has meant more to us than you will ever know.”
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the fire, which saw homes in nearby streets evacuated as a precaution.

The business paid particular tribute to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, saying: “Your work is to be admired. Thank you for your swift, professional response and for working so hard to bring a horrific situation under control.”
The family also addressed online speculation and fundraising pages, stressing their focus on recovery:
“We are deeply moved by the kindness behind the GoFundMe gestures, but we cannot accept donations,” they said. “Your words of support are more than enough. They are our lifeline right now.”
Suite Dreams, which has been part of the town for 24 years, described the loss as “heartbreaking” but emphasised the importance of the community:
“The building was just walls—the business was the people. To our loyal customers, you are the reason we loved what we did,” they said.
The owners confirmed they will provide further updates on the future of the business in due course, and thanked everyone who has sent messages of encouragement.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire, which remains under review.
