From little acorns... Mayor of Sleaford hopes to grow mighty oaks

The Mayor of Sleaford is holding a fundraising initiative to make Sleaford leafy and greener.

Mayor Coun Anthony Brand is raising money to buy more trees anto be planted in Sleaford.

So far he has grown 20 oak tree saplings and these are available to purchase at £10 each for people to take away, plant at home and watch them grow.

Each person who buys a sapling will receive a certificate of authentification and thanks, signed by the Mayor.

He explains: “It has probably taken nearly a year (to grow the saplings) as we started growing hydroponically before transferring to soil.

“All money raised will enable more trees to be purchased and planted in Sleaford. The trees will produce homes for wildlife, reduce pollution and help the environment.”

He is also selling original oak artwork pictures for £10 each to raise more money, as well as the saplings.
