Isabella and family inspire St Botolph's Church Down's Syndrome support

After Boston Stump lit up for world Down Syndrome Day five-year-old Isabella Clarkson and her sisters Bethany, four, ad Elisha, two-and-a-half, made a thank you card for the church.

Those at the church were so impressed they have now transformed it into a Christmas card which they are going to sell to raise money.

The funds raised will then be split equally between Lincolnshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group (LDSSG) and the church’s own costs.

Not only that, but Isabella is also set to feature on the LDSSG’s charity calendar this year, which the church have also agreed to sell in their store.

Isabella’s mum Charlotte is also working hard to raise awareness of the condition and is in the process of setting up a support group in the Boston area.

She said: “The new group will be for families that have members with Down’s Syndrome so the children can come and play together and the families can mix, share advice, ask questions and spend time with other families.”

The group, which will meet fortnightly at St Christopher’s Church will work under the umbrella of the LDSSG and has already gained the support of Sure Start and Boston Big Local.

A St Botolph’s Church spokesman said: “Isabella and her sisters did the thank you card for us and we thought it would make a really nice Christmas card.

“It’s great to have someone who champions the cause locally and who is so passionate about that.

“It’s also good to be able to help in building this support group.”

On Monday, the church presented the card to Isabella and it went on 
sale at the church yesterday (Tuesday).

They cost 65p each, five for £3 or 10 for £5.
