'A wonderful day' - Community centre in Boston hosts gala day
A wide range of attractions were on offer when a community centre in Boston held a gala day.
Fenside Community Centre, in Taverner Road, held the event last Saturday (August 22), from 12-4pm.
Opened by Mayor of Boston Coun Jonathan Noble, it included a bouncy castle, swing boats, a football shoot-out, face painting, a tombola, a raffle, the Ravens Coven Dancing Witches, and a range of stalls.
A spokesman for the centre said: “The day was a fantastic opportunity for the local community to come together, enjoy themselves and make some lovely memories.

“From the moment the doors opened, there was a brilliant atmosphere, with people enjoying the activities, entertainment, food and everything else the gala day had to offer.”
The event raised £1,200, which the spokesman described as an ‘incredible amount made possible by the generosity and support of everyone who came along and took part’.
The money will help provide food for those attending the centre’s youth club sessions on Wednesday evenings, plus go towards the costs of its annual Halloween and Christmas parties.
“The Fenside community once again showed exactly what can be achieved when everyone pulls together,” the spokesman said.

“It was a wonderful day filled with smiles, laughter and a real sense of community spirit.”
The spokesman paid tribute to the ‘huge amount of hard work’ behind the scenes, thanking all those who helped make the event a success. “From the bottom of our hearts thank you to every single person who helped, donated, attended or supported our gala day in any way,” they said. “We couldn’t have done it without you, and we hope to see you all again at the next Fenside Community Centre event!”
- We previously incorrectly stated that the Boston Dancing Witches had taken part in this event. We are happy to confirm that it was actually the Ravens Coven.
