Caistor Grammar School's awards evening

A packed Caistor parish church enthusiastically supported Caistor Grammar School's awards evening, when 186 cups and prizes were presented.

A large and appreciative audience of prizewinners and their parents were also thrilled to hear from guest of honour Simon Cohen.

The celebrated entrepreneur with a social conscience spent most of the day in school, working with pupils in a number of year groups, and in the evening spoke about his life and philosophy.

In his address, Mr Cohen asked everyone to reflect on the most important things in their lives and then to evaluate the extent to which they were actually living lives that put these most important things at the top of the priority list.

He also expressed his delight at visiting such an outstanding institution.

Roger Hale, in his last awards evening after 21 years as headmaster, looked back fondly over his time at the school.

He also paid tribute to the values that are dominant in the CGS community – caring for one another, achieving one’s best and achieving excellence.
