Youngsters have a chance of winning £500 for their school to spend on supplies in the competition, set up by digital health provider Medicspot.

Ten runners-up will be selected to win £100 for the school.

Entries can be in any format – a poster, a video, a song, a science experience, a poem – but should highlight the following key points: hands should be washed for at least 20 seconds, warm water and soap should be used, hand washing should take place frequently throughout the day, and hand sanitiser should be used when soap and water are not available.

Dr Johnson D’souza, medical director at Medicspot, said: “It’s never been more important to practise proper handwashing. We designed this challenge for children to complete at home to help promote frequent hand washing and help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“We’re excited to see the creativity from primary school pupils in Sleaford and hope it inspires households throughout the local area to practise handwashing regularly.”

Pupils have until the end of June to get their entries in.

Winners will be announced in July.
