Head retires after 30 years at Binbrook school

It was a postcode misunderstanding that saw Nottinghamshire-born Sue Beveridge arrive at the school in 1985.

“We were living in Lincoln and had an LN3 postcode, so when I saw a job in LN6, which Binbrook was at the time, I assumed it must be quite nearby,” said Mrs Beveridge.

“But as I made the long journey up the Wolds, I realised how wrong I was.”

But the undulating country drive clearly had a positive effect and she took the job she was offered.

Over the past 30 years, she has worked across the school and seen a lot of changes.

“The closure of the RAF camp had a big effect on numbers, which have fluctuated ever since,” said Mrs Beveridge.

“I am proud of everything we have achieved while I have been here and I am pleased we have managed to get so many different awards, acknowledging all the hard work that is ongoing with staff, pupils and parents.

“I would like to thank the parents, children and staff over the many years for making my time here so enjoyable.”

Now Mrs Beveridge is planning to take some time out and travel to the places she has always wanted to visit.

“It might even be that I get into the garden, so I am hoping for lots of sunshine so I can enjoy the summer,” she added.

And to help Mrs Beveridge with her travels, she was presented with a set of top quality luggage by grateful staff members, governors, children and parents at the farewell assembly.
