‘Made With Love’ furniture project brings new life to old pieces
A new Lincolnshire initiative is turning donated furniture into high-quality, upcycled pieces to support local people in need.
The ‘Made With Love’ project, launched by Lincolnshire County Council’s Community Intervention Team, takes donated furniture – from members of the public and Tattershall Household Waste and Recycling Centre – and restores it, giving it a fresh purpose while helping reduce waste.
Over the past year, the team, working alongside children supported by Future4Me, has donated furniture to youth homelessness services, women’s refuges, social care teams, and children’s centres across the county. Recently, they helped a family moving into a new home, providing everything they needed to settle in and start afresh.
Now, the project is expanding with plans for regular donation and collection days, ensuring even more people can benefit while promoting sustainability across Lincolnshire.
Coun Natalie Oliver, executive member for Children’s Services, said: “Made With Love is about giving new life to old furniture while supporting people who need it most.
"Every item has been lovingly restored, and it’s wonderful to see the difference it can make in someone’s home.”
Coun Danny Brookes, executive councillor for Environment, added: “This project is a fantastic example of how we can make the most of resources that might otherwise go to waste.
"By upcycling donated furniture, we’re not only supporting local families but also helping to reduce what we throw away. It’s community spirit and sustainability working hand in hand.”
