New leader of West Lindsey District Council appointed

Councillor Owen Bierley has been appointed as the new leader of West Lindsey District Council, it can be revealed.

A vote took place at the full council meeting held this evening (Monday).

At the meeting, Councillor Paul Howitt-Cowan - who represents Hemswell ward - was appointed as Deputy Leader.

Councillor Bierley - who represents Caistor and Yarborough ward - takes over from Councillor Giles McNeill who resigned from his position of leader last month.

Councillor Bierley has been acting leader at WLDC and was previously the deputy leader.

Councillor McNeill - who represents Nettleham ward - was also suspended by the Gainsborough Constituency Conservative Association last month.
