Praise for Skegness bus drivers after completing 60 mile hike to support the Air Ambulance

Two bus drivers from Skegness have been praised for their remarkable efforts to support a life-saving charity in Lincolnshire.

Stagecoach East Midlands drivers Dave McMullan and Kim Whitehead – collectively known as the ‘Stagecoach Strollers’ – recently completed the North Yorkshire Ultra, an endurance challenge that saw them walk from 100km (60miles) from Scarborough to Whitby and back again in just 24 hours.

The pair raised £2,703 for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance after completing the challenge – preparation for which saw them completing around 400km in training – including travelling to more hilly areas.

The challenge is one of many fundraising feats to be completed by Dave and Kim over the past few years – during which the pair have raised in excess of £35,000 for local charities. Other fundraisers have included an annual cricket match between Stagecoach’s Grimsby depot and Grimsby Town Cricket Club, while last year the duo raised £2,278 for the Stroke Association after completing the Lake District Ultra Challenge.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “Dave and Kim continue to achieve something that is highly impressive – everyone at Stagecoach East Midlands is extremely proud of their achievements.

“Each year, these events take a huge amount of training, time and commitment, with all funds raised going to places of need. Dave and Kim really show what it means to live out our company value of ‘We Support Communities’. Thank you both for being stars!”
