Rasen ‘Friendship Line’ up and running and ready to call

A positive response of volunteers coming forward to be ‘callers’ in a new Market Rasen Town Partnership initiative has seen it take off straight-away.

As previously reported, one of the current issues identified by the group is loneliness and a feeling of true isolation under the government lockdown guidelines.

The volunteer callers have already made contact with some local residents and co-ordinator Jo Pilley has been delighted with the reaction to the line.

She said: “It was fantastic to get a number of volunteers come forward straightaway and the feedback from the initial calls has been very positive.

“Our volunteer callers have arranged to make regular contact with the residents they have already spoken to, which is great.”

Now the Friendship Line is looking for more people who would like to receive a call.

Jo said: “I think it is vitally important that we support all those who are housebound, self-isolating or lonely in our community, especially during the current crisis.

“If you, or someone you know, would benefit from a regular call - whether that is daily, weekly or just occasionally - then please get in touch.

“A general chat is something missing from lots of lives at the moment and this is a simple way to bring it back.”
