Retrospective approval for public toilets to be demolished and revamped

The revamp of a set of public toilets has been given the green light.

East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) has been granted retrospective planning permission to demolish the existing public toilets in Castle Lane car park, in Coningsby – which it owns – to make way for a new set of facilities.

As part of the application, a new modular toilet facility will be built, alongside a new planting area and associated drainage improvements. The toilets are currently closed during the redevelopment.

The matter was decided by the council’s own planning committee at its meeting on Wednesday, September 2.

Coun Neil Jones (Conservative – Sibsey and Stickney) said: “I’ve been in need of this facility on several occasions.

“I’m very sad that the last one closed. There isn’t another one for miles.”

The application has been approved, subject to conditions.
