A free befriending service based in Caistor is now fully operational and in a strong position to take on extra referrals for senior citizens in need of support in the town and surrounding area.

In the year since its establishment, the Caistor Cares charity has been supported by a healthy number of volunteers all hoping to help make a positive difference to the town’s elderly residents by offering a free befriending service to those in need.

Now, with a number of these volunteers having undergone extensive training and preparation, charity founder Chris Robey wants to hear from anyone living in or near Caistor who could benefit from their support.

“We have successfully matched several members and volunteers, and the feedback we are receiving is that our volunteers are already making significant steps towards reducing social isolation,” he said.

“We are now very keen to find more members to support and I would invite those who may be holding back, to give us a call, as we are very keen to help.

“Quite a few of our members have said that they were originally unsure whether to contact us, but have found our service to be very friendly and flexible, and they end up saying that they are very pleased to have made the call.”
