Council responds to motorists fed up with ‘disgusting’ state of Grantham Road in Sleaford
Lincolnshire County Council officials have said the authority will be doing nothing until next summer about the state of a key road into Sleaford despite drivers describing the condition as ‘disgusting’.
One resident announced on local social media: “If any county councillors read this you need to seriously look at the disgusting state of Grantham Road in Sleaford. There’s more pot holes and patches than road.”
Another local resident who uses the road agreed saying: “Grantham Road in Sleaford is terrible. Needs sorting before a cyclist hits a pot hole and is seriously injured.
One resident suggested: “If you go to the website Fix My Street you can report the potholes and other repairs needed. If everyone complains on this site they have to take action. But I agree Grantham Road is in need of resurfacing alongside the bypass which is also a patchwork of temporary repairs.”

He was referring to the multiple strips of tar spread across the road to fill in cracks that have generated a ‘rumble strip’ effect on drivers’ steering when passing over them.
He argued that the council was instead wasting money on “unnecessary” projects.
A LCC spokesperson said plans to resurface Grantham Road in Sleaford were not due to take place until next summer.
But they added: “A full 2026/27 ‘primary route network’ resurfacing programme will be brought to the county council’s Highways & Transport Scrutiny Committee and Executive early next year for review and approval. Until then, this project remains contingent on the outcome of that approval decision.”

They said there were currently no other improvements planned for the A15 bypass between Grantham Road and Holdingham Roundabout. However, a full road reconstruction scheme for this stretch of the A15 is in the very early planning stages (subject funding).
