Worksop: Bowls club raises £550 for Bassetlaw Hospice

A bowls club took time out of their holiday and raised thousands of pounds for two different charities.

Fourty-eight memebers from the Bassetlaw Indoor Bowls Club raised a total of £1100 for Bassetlaw Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Macmillan Nurses.

A cheque presentation took place at Bassetlaw Hospice and the group handed over two cheques, which were both for £550 each.

Helen Eshelby, fund raising and events co-ordinator at Bassetlaw Hospice said: “A big thank you is owed to our bowling friends at Long Sutton, Browston Hall and Acle who together with players from various clubs in the Worksop and Retford area, have consistently supported us with donations over the past five years.”

“They have helped us raise an impressive £4000 for charities in the area since 2010.

The cheques were given to Ian Hall of Bassetlaw Hospice and Lydia Jones, who is a Macmillan Nurse.
