The event is being held several months later than usual this year, but with the summer weather nonetheless.

In the veterans category, the men’s doubles event was won by Ray Frankish and Anthony Hulley, the duo retaining the title that they won last year.

They earned victory over James Newton and Geoff Short in the final.

In the ladies’ section, Rachel Atkinson and Rachel Gedney were relieved to get to the winning end of a tough match against Helen Duckett and Lesley Gibbons.

The match went down to the wire and, despite trailing, the two Rachels managed to be first past the post.

In the mini green three section, youngsters George Skipworth, Alayna Buswell and Bonnie Haywood were competing to come through the qualifying stages.

There was some good natured and happy play with good performances from all three but it was George who moves forward as the qualifier.

The Chattertons Club Championships 2020 continues with matches spaced out over this coming week.

Sunday also saw the start of the LTA National Winter League for Lincolnshire.

The under 16 girls’ Boston B team won 3-0 away at Grantham.

The team of Poppy Gibbons and Yasmin Everritt did well to win this fixture.
